VMworld is a tech conference sponsored and organized by VMware. This year's VMworld was held in Barcelona from 4th to 7th of November, with over 13 000 attendees from more than 3500 companies gathered all around the world.

VMworld is a tech conference sponsored and organized by VMware. This year's VMworld was held in Barcelona from 4th to 7th of November, with over 13 000 attendees from more than 3500 companies gathered all around the world.

The goal of VMworld is to capture the momentum of today's rapidly changing IT environment by accelerating cloud journey, transforming networking and security for speed and flexibility, and delivering digital workspaces for amazing mobile experiences.

The two most interesting presentations were "vSAN Operations" by Weiguo He (Director, Technical Marketing & Customer Enablement, VMware) and "Meet the [ML] Driver of the Self-Driving Datacenter" by Jad El-Zein (CMBU Office of the CTO, VMware).

"vSAN Operations" was a four-hour presentation in the form of a specialist tutorial. Weiguo He talks about his field experience from architectural and operation perspectives and proven practices in dealing with vSAN storage in production. Tutorial covers topics such as monitoring, maintenance, expansion, upgrades, and troubleshooting - excellent presentation with a lot of useful examples and real-world best practices in handling of vSAN storage.

In his breakout session called "Meet the [ML] Driver of the Self-Driving Datacenter", Jad El-Zein talks about emerging technologies that will help users to maintain and control a broad range of applications and multi-cloud resources by using Machine Learning. ML enables organizations to dynamically establish operational boundaries by learning algorithms best suited for the application and business intent.

Our trip to Barcelona was a lot of fun. We learned a lot from the world's best experts in the domain of VMware technologies and had a chance to connect and collaborate with other companies from the field. We also found a little time to explore the beautiful city of Barcelona.
