ISO/IEC 20000 is the international standard for IT Service Management (ITSM). It was published by ISO (the International Organization for Standardization) and IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission).
ISO 20000 is a standard applicable to any company size and any industry. It describes management processes designed to help companies deliver more effective IT services. The standard provides the methodology and the framework for ITSM management. By meeting the requirement of ISO 20000, companies use best practices for IT services delivery
ISO 20000 standard consist of seven parts, but ISO 20000-1 is the most important.
ISO 20000-1 is the formal specification for IT Service Management; it defines the requirements for delivering managed IT services of acceptable quality for the end customers.
